Beatrix Potter

For nearly 115 years Beatrix Potter stories have inspired generations. As a young child i was captivated by her imaginative stories and exquisitely beautiful illustrations. She brought to life an enchanting world where little animals paraded in outfits and mischief was never to far away. Her illustrations so delicate yet so full of life, but there is so much more to this intriguing lady.

Not only an accomplished artist and author but a conservationist of nature too. With the proceeds from her first book she brought Hill Top farm in the Lake District were she developed a keen interest and passion for farming and land conservation. Over her life time she went on to purchase many other farms which she bequeathed to the National Trust thus preserving the landscape and beauty that makes up a great deal of the Lake District National Park.

Her home at Hill Top Farm and the surrounding countryside became an inspiration in many of her books. Today the house & gardens at Hill Top are preserved for future generations to enjoy. I was luck enough to visit Hill Top and be captivated by it's beauty....long may it and Beatrix's work be an inspiration to future generations.
